218 Purpose

V I S I O N

Our youth are the future leaders of our communities. The education provided by 218 Dance Project will contribute to the development of responsible, dedicated, determined, and creative members in society. We will provide more than just dance education:

1) Create a sense of belonging through team-building, self-awareness, and respect for self and others.

2) Provide instruction that promotes self-discipline through working hard to achieve their goals.

3) Promote confidence in our dancers for skill mastery.

4) Challenge our student by teaching them to problem solve, overcome obstacles, and strive for excellence.

5) Connect dancers and families with the local community by completing yearly service projects, attending local dance shows and promoting a positive youth presence.

We believe that through the skills and values obtained and refined at 218 Dance Project, we will prepare our students to experience success in all aspects of life as they begin to walk their path to a brighter future.

Strong Technical Foundation:

218 Dance Project will provide a solid and comprehensive technical foundation for the developing dancer. We feel strongly that using ballet as a foundation will instill an awareness of poise, alignment, and technique. Our goal is to give each individual dancer the tools they need to take dance as far as they dream to take it.

High-Quality Instruction:

218 Dance Project will provide the highest quality dance instruction and choreography. We will offer a strong program with a variety of classes structured by age and individual ability. We guarantee that all classes will meet the size guidelines proposed by empirically-supported curriculum guidelines that promote personalized attention.

Proactive Communication:

218 Dance Project strives to keep our dance families well-informed regarding the progress of their dancer(s). We believe open, proactive communication and positive encouragement at the studio and at home. We will work to ensure proactive communication by utilizing various mediums (i.e., email newsletters, social media, verbal). We also promote an open door policy among directors and instructors to ensure all students and parents feel comfortable and supported. The success of each dancer is a result of great teamwork and camaraderie between us and our studio families.

Community Involvement:

218 Dance Project values the Twin Ports community and we will support many fundraising efforts sponsored throughout our locality. We want each dancer and their families to feel that they are a part of something special. We are committed to providing accessible community-based performances, offering affordable and accessible classes for underrepresented children, and supporting local youth-based organizations.

Continuous Growth and Development:

218 Dance Project will support ongoing training and education for our instructors and staff. This commonly includes dance education conventions (both virtual and face-to-face), inclusivity seminars, child safety training, as well as dance studio management and entrepreneurship workshops.
